Privacy Policy
Important Consent & Overview
IMPORTANT: BY USING CIRCUIT ASSISTANT AND/OR PROVIDING US WITH ANY PERSONAL DATA, YOU GIVE YOUR EXPLICIT CONSENT THAT ALL PERSONAL DATA THAT YOU SUBMIT MAY BE PROCESSED BY US IN THE MANNER AND FOR THE PURPOSES DESCRIBED IN THE FOLLOWING PRIVACY POLICY AND IN COMPLIANCE WITH THE EFFECTIVE LAWS AND REGULATIONS ON PERSONAL DATA.
Thank you for choosing to be part of the Circuit Assistant user community ("we", "us", "our"). We are committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy. You are not required to provide any personal information to visit the Circuit Assistant website or to use the Circuit Assistant application. If you serve as a circuit overseer, substitute circuit overseer, or field instructor, you are granted a license to use the software. We may audit or verify your appointment to prevent abuse of the services made available to you at no cost. All data stored within the Circuit Assistant application resides on your local computer and is under your control.
If desired, Circuit Assistant can compose and send email at your specific direction. For this, we have built an OAuth 2.0 bridge to allow you to use your Gmail or Microsoft email account to send emails along with attachments generated within Circuit Assistant. OAuth 2.0 is the industry-standard protocol for authorization and when you connect your Gmail and/or Microsoft account you will be asked if you allow Circuit Assistant access to perform specific email functions on your behalf. This does not allow anyone who works on the Circuit Assistant application access to your email. The request is for the Application you have installed on your machine to compose and send email on your behalf at your specific direction. For example, sending student assignments as attachments with email templates you have created or edited within Circuit Assistant. A similar feature is available to you if desired for SMTP emails (e.g. for Apple iCloud users with an application-specific password).
If you contact us directly or participate in any group forums for user support, we may receive information about you such as your name, email address, phone number, the contents of the message and/or attachments you may send us, and any other information you may choose to provide. The Circuit Assistant team does not allow advertising companies to collect data through our service for ad targeting. We do not share data collected by our services with other organizations for any purpose. Cookies are only used on this basic internet site for these policies and the end user license agreement and only as needed.
We do not automatically collect information when you visit, use or navigate the basic site where this information is hosted.
If you have any questions or concerns about this privacy notice, or our practices with regards to your personal information, please contact us at circuit.assistant@outlook.com.
1. Introduction
Circuit Assistant (“we,” “our,” or “us”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our application to send email through your Gmail or Microsoft account; or by use of the SMTP protocol (e.g. with Apple iCloud).
2. Information We Access
When you opt to use Google OAuth 2.0 with the Application, we request the gmail.send, userinfo.email, and userinfo.profile scopes from Google OAuth. This allows the Application to send email on your behalf, see your primary Google Account email address, and see your personal info, including any personal info you've made publicly available.
When you opt to use Microsoft OAuth 2.0 with the Application, we request the Mail.Send, email, openid, User.Read, and offiline_access permissions from Microsoft OAuth. These permissions allow the Application to send email messages on your behalf and maintain access to data you have given the aplication access to (such as a token to allow this access).
We do not request access to read, modify, or store your inbox or any other Gmail and/or Microsoft data.
The Application enables the user to send email from within in the application as the authorized user, generally with an attachment. All emails sent are specifically at the user's direction and (with the exception of the test email from from the user to the user) include content and attachments that you are fully in control of. This is for convenience and makes completing aspects of the assignment much faster to complete. Users are under no obligation to use this feature.
3. How We Use Information
Emails are composed by you within the app and transmitted securely via the Gmail and/or Microsoft API, or via SMTP (for Apple iCloud). The Application uses the permissions granted only to deliver outbound messages. The Application does not access, analyze, share, or sell the content of your emails. No one on the Circuit Assistant team has access to your email.
4. Data Storage
We do not store the subject, body, or recipients of your emails. The Application may store minimal metadata on your machine (such as timestamps or delivery status) for troubleshooting and user support. No Gmail, Microsoft, or Apple iCloud inbox data is accessible or retained on our servers.
5. Security
All communication with Google’s APIs, Microsoft APIs, and Apple iCloud is encrypted using HTTPS.
6. Sharing of Information
We do not share Gmail, Microsoft, or Apple iCloud data with third parties. We may disclose limited metadata if required by law or to protect our rights.
7. User Control
You can revoke the Application's access at any time via your Google, Microsoft, or Apple iCloud account permissions. Once revoked, the Application can no longer send email on your behalf.
